Wish I could watch VH1's I Love the 80's....

Okay, I realize it's been a while, I've been keeping busy here in Florida, and having a blast!

Last night I was suppose to host the High School Girls sleep over for the Crave Youth, however they all decided to be party poopers and not come, so Jordan and I decided to crash the Middle School Girls party, since they really like us. So, it was a totally girly event, PJ's, Pizza, Pop, and Twizzlers and the movie 13 Going on 30, it was Fabulouso! We danced around to Love is a Battlefield and Jesse's Girl. The 80's theme is helping us prepare for our Napolean Dynamite Dance, at the end of August, I'll explain a little more later. Then we started a game of Truth or Dare, and lets just say that some girls are just as gross as guys, and that's all I will say... Otherwise it was a great night.

So this morning, we went Thrifting to find some classic 80's dance dresses with the girls for our Napolean Dynamite Dance at the end of August, which will be the finale of our series on "Taming the Liger: We'll Talk about Optimistic Skills, Friendship Skills, Commitment Skills, and Coping Skills. Yessssssss." It's gonna be flippin' sweet! We figured it would be a great series to start off school year with and encourage the kids to make a difference. To cap it off, we will have this dance with Napolean inspired games and food, so a steak throwing contest and eating tots will most definitely play a part of the evening.

Anyway, the girls went thrifting this morning, we all found great 80's party dresses, with lots of dyed lace, stonewashed denim, shoulder pads, and poofy sleeves to make ones head spin! I myself found a cute sequined hot pink number, I look like I'm from the disco era! I just need to work on teasing my hair now, Angela, I'll need some pointers! I'll be sure to post pictures of the group for you all in September! Now we just need to help get the guys ready for the big night as well, we should be able to find some sweet suits.

Tonight we are holding our open mic night, the Warehouse for the students, where they can hangout and play some games! I better get doing, we need to set up soon! Have a great day!

Let's see here, it's Friday Night, Dennis is looming below the gulf trying to decide where it will travel on its path of destruction.

I am happy to finish a good, but entirely way too hectic 4 day work week. The drive home at 5 never felt so good. I am relaxing at home watching TGIF on ABC, thinking about all the great shows that once aired on this coveted Friday night spot that I enjoyed in my early youth! It was always a treat to stay up til 10 with my parents enjoying the great sitcoms and munching on popcorn with them. I really miss Boy Meets World, Perfect Strangers, Family Matters, Just the 10 of Us, Step By Step, ah those were the days.

I started to read Tolstoy's Confession, it is about his search for the meaning of life. I am just getting in to it, I'll let you know how it goes, I will pick it up again later this evening. I haven't really read alot of literature outside of what was required in my english classes in college, and you really just barely touch the surface of what is out there with what is required for a business degree, so I am making the effort to experience what else is out there!

I would have had plans tomorrow, except that Dennis has decided to rain on your Fear Factor Field Day planned for the youth, at least we can reschedule, and I'll admit that I wasn't really looking forward to being dressed and ready to go at 7:30 AM on a Saturday anyway. So instead I will probably wake up a little later and make some pancakes, I love pancakes! After that I will take a little time to tidy up the house. Then I am gonna figure out what I can make next with my new Stand Mixer, and dirty the kitchen again :)

In other new, Jordan and I are planning a Sleep Over for our Highschool Girls smallgroup. I am really excited about this. I figured for dinner we'd make homemade pizza, Jordan is bringin brownies (the ultimate sleepover accessory), we will watch 13 Going on 30 and recreate the Love Is a Battlefield scene in the movie... j/k, but really, wouldn't that be Fabulouso! We'll do the usual makeovers that are ever so popular at these events as well. Anyway, I am excited to get to know these girls much better, and let them know I am there for them. I guess that is it for now, have a great evening!

Let me just say, that there is nothing as good as guacamole, tortilla chips, and a cold Diet Coke on a Tuesday night. Just so good.

I finally played bass again tonight, it's like the first time in about a month. Made my day. We are playing Holy Moment and Here I Am to Worship, two of my favorite songs. It sounded good this evening. I think I am gonna listen to Superchic[k]'s version of Holy Moment and dream that we sound as good as that version tomorrow night at the Crave!

Pizza Night!

It's been a great evening. I decided to hold my first Pizza Night since receiving my matching Red Kitchenaid Artisan Stand Mixer and Ultra Power Blender. At first it would be just myself and Ginger with some pizza and a margarita or two and maybe a movie.

Well Ginger asked via email today how many people she needed to bring toppings for pizza for, I told her it would just be the two of us, but hey maybe I could get a hold of Tina. So I did, and invited Tina and her husband Woody (by the way go to www.lexingtonblue.com, it's good stuff), and she said she would see what was up. I let Ginger know the plan at that point, and she well hey, Jordan thinks you're pretty cool too, and would like to get to know you more, so I figured I would invite her too. I had come to know her through working with the Crave, the youth ministry at Oasis. So I invited Jordan and her husband Jason. So anyway, I'm at work emailing about Pizza Night to those involved, and I just couldn't wait!

Now, earlier that day I had no idea these folks would want to spend time with me, sure I had a good time getting to know them through other activities that I am involved in. I guess I figured, oh hey, they are married, they are probably too busy or already have plans for the evening. I never would have dreamed they would have come over for pizza. Let me tell you, I was totally wrong. At 6, Jordan and Jason showed as I was prepping the toppings, we talked about house stuff, major kitchen appliances, and food as I finished everything. They are about 8 weeks from closing on their first home, it's very exciting! So I popped a pizza or two in and Tina showed up, Jordan and Jason mentioned that there was a concert going on just up the road from my house to Tina, and Woody is trying to network with other bands in the area to help get the word out on Lexington Blue, so Tina calls him and tells him about the concert and he mentions he is putting in a frozen pizza and tells him don't bother, and to come over to Lori's and eat some pizza! So at about 7:30 he shows up, and a few minutes later Ginger calls to let me know she is on her way and is as surprised as I to find out who showed up! So she asked if she needed to bring a date, I told her I was already there silly :) Anyway, she came over finally, and after a few pizzas, they were asking when I planned on holding the next Pizza Night!!!! So needless to say, it was a big hit, and I had a blast!!!

Pizza Night is a big deal with me, it started back when I was in elementary school and I made dough at Apple Valley, well that night I took it home and my Dad and I made Pizza with it, we ended up getting snowed in and invited some friends, and since then we have always had a Pizza Night with the Wolf's thing going on. I would prepare the dough and Dad would do the pizza building. It's always been a great event to spend quality time with friends and family, and eat some good food! I just had to bring the tradition to my house and share it with the wonderful folks I have met in Lakeland.

So anyway, that was my night in a nutshell, I'd say it was a great start to my Independence Day Weekend!
